John has worked in a wide range of healthcare provisions in the UK over a period of 35 years, ranging from clinical environments to national healthcare regulation, mediation and senior management roles.

John Ogdon Lant established the practice after University in Scotland and graduation from the British School of Osteopathy, London. While Director of the Osteopathic Association of Great Britain in 1988 he was appointed by the Privy Council in 1996 to be a first member of the Statutory Council of the first General Osteopathic Council.

The General Osteopathic Council arose from the Osteopaths Act 1993 to regulate, develop and promote the profession of Osteopathy, the first new healthcare statutory body in the UK for over 40 years.

John was appointed as an Independent Council Member to the Family Mediation Council (FMC) in 2007 after a period as Chairman of the regulatory UK College of Family Mediators. He is a Managers' Panel Member at Kneesworth House Psychiatric Hospital, was appointed Independent Chairman of the Nutritional Therapy Council in 2007 by the Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health with funding by The Department of Health and is a Board Member and Chairman of the Resources & Marketing Sub-Committee of Dentists' & General Mutual Benefit Society (DG Mutual).

Underpinning these professional activities from a Cambridge base, John Ogdon Lant leads a Group Healthcare practice with an interest in psychosomatic factors in promoting improved health pathways, with a specialist interest in older patients. The range and scope of the Practice at John Lant & Partners has grown over the years and now offers a wide variety of services in addition to patients' healthcare including health promotion.

The practice supports local and regional CPD Courses by leading these regular events in Cambridge at Girton College and elsewhere. The next event lead by John is in September 2010 at Girton College, Cambridge. Most recently he has been renewing links with the British School of Osteopathy, London, the oldest and largest Osteopathic School in the UK.

As part of his professional work, John Ogdon Lant acts as an Expert Witness working with lawyers in London, Plymouth, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

In 2008 he was appointed Independent Chairman of the Nutritional Therapy Council, working towards voluntary regulation for UK Nutritionists, an initiative supported by the Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health, with funding by The Department of Health.

John has since undertaken other roles for the Prince's Foundation.

In 2008 John was appointed to Committees of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council. The CNHC was established in that year, heralding a new approach to the voluntary regulation of complementary therapies in the UK and initiatives funded by the Department of Health.

The CNHC will support consumer confidence and public trust which will in turn benefit all practitioners. In 2010 John was appointed as a Co-Opted Director and member of the Finance Committee of the British School of Osteopathy in London UK and Vice Chairman in 2011.

He is was appointed as Chairman of CoastNet in 2011.

Past appointments have included working in the Arts with Eastern Touring Agency, English Sinfonia, The Arts Theatre Cambridge, The John Ogdon Foundation, Anglia Ruskin University, The British School of Osteopathy, St Andrews University Cambridge Alumni, Cambridgeshire Consultancy in Counselling and the Cambridgeshire Osteopaths Group.
